Monitoring Protein Immobilization
Beads, previously aspirated into flow through port, are packed into the flow cell. Note that this technique does not require precise bead metering as the flow cell must only be fully packed; the excess beads in the conduit leading to the cell do not compromise the measurement. This is an important difference from BIS, where beads in the channel leading to flow cell will interfere by capturing the target analyte outside the monitoring beam of light.
